Most adjuster training classes read through a book just to get you licensed. Then what? Our focus is on the “in-the-field” skills, giving you the confidence and knowledge to navigate through the daily tasks encountered as a residential property adjuster. Here at the Adjuster Institute we pride ourselves on smaller classes while creating a more custom and intimate learning environment. No pressure, no exams. We are a true estimate writing class, using real claim scenarios, helping you build the necessary foundation of skills every adjuster needs.
We are not big business, and didn’t learn property adjusting by reading about it. Understanding the true ins and outs of being an adjuster needs to come from someone who has already maneuvered through those ins, outs, and everything in between. Someone who knows what it feels like to take all day writing one simple estimate, just to have it returned with a long list of corrections. We have a unique set of knowledge and experience, from both the adjuster and contractor side of things. Both of these careers can excel above average when you can quickly create an accurate and organized estimate, as they require the same skills.
This is a competitive field that is constantly growing, where time is money. Improving yourself to go from writing one claim a day to four or more increases both your income and time with family/friends. More and more families are struggling, working multiple jobs and losing quality of life. Fine tuning your estimate writing skills while improving your time management, can make being an adjuster financially rewarding without sacrificing your work/life balance.
Chris and Amy are an adjusting team with a combined 19 years experience. They have spent most of their lives in North Carolina and are more than familiar with a multitude of losses/CAT events.
Chris learned about adjusting through a friend, and started himself with no experience and minimal training. Prior to adjusting and helping start The Adjuster Institute, Amy was a finance manager over a loan office with a nationwide company.
After spending long days and nights away from his wife, they decided to buy an RV and work on the road together as adjusters. Amy also had zero experience, but quickly learned from Chris. Some say Amy is now a better adjuster than Chris, but that’s an argument for another day. Amy also spent time reviewing claim reports for carrier submission, and manages a few carriers through an adjusting firm. The need for adjusters to have access to an estimate writing class became evident.
They have been full-time RVers for going on 6 eventful years, but plan to settle down and call Ohio home with their dogs.
Jason and Amanda started their careers in the insurance world by owning and operating their own carpet and upholstery cleaning business. As a native of Wilmington North Carolina and residing on the east coast, they are no strangers to hurricanes. Frequent hurricanes quickly expanded their business into completing mitigations, structural putbacks, insurance claims, and Xactimate! This paved the way for Jason to transition over to a General Manager of Restoration/Construction for a company with locations throughout NC.
After 10 years Jason was pulled into the federal market inspecting damaged homes under the HUD funded CDBG Disaster Recovery Grants. This adventure would take him from California to North Carolina, and several states in between; inspecting damaged homes and preparing estimated cost of repair estimates for state and local governments. Jason served as the Deputy Program Manager assisting The State of California’s recovery from the wildfires of 2017-2018, and 2020. Jason worked closely with the construction management staff, managed subcontractors, collaborated on program polices and federal compliance/requirements, along with assisting the Program Manager with overall leadership throughout the entire project. Prior to California, Jason was the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for inspections and inspection policy for North Carolina’s Recovery program.
Prior to becoming a managing partner for their business, Amanda has spent most of her career in Human Resource Management. As HR Manager, Amanda was in charge of the personnel at the largest private hospital in south eastern North Carolina.
Chris and Jason, back in their younger days, met while working in law enforcement. They remained close friends, and both entered the insurance industry under different professions. Their wives have all the brains, so they decided to use their husband’s skills to their advantage and start a training business.
